Paul Merson isn’t exactly the thinking man’s pundit but he’s still often very entertaining to watch on Sky Sports. The former Arsenal midfielder has been a mainstay of the Soccer Saturday panel for years now and regularly amuses viewers with his failure to pronounce the names of foreign footballers.Jokes aside, Merson is extremely passionate about football and does, from time to time, make some very good points. A brilliant footballer back in the day, Soccer Saturday just wouldn’t be the same without Merse. However, the 49-year-old has managed to offend Scottish football fans today with his Scottish Premiership predictions.Merson went through his Super 6 predictions and clearly hadn’t done any research whatsoever before predicting the Celtic v St Johnstone and Kilmarnock v Dundee scorelines.

Merson angers Scottish Premiership fans

“Yeah, I’ve gone for a shoeing here, 3-0. St Johnstone had a great result last week but er… I think they beat Aberdeen if I’m being hon… I think. So yeah, they’ve had some good results but Celtic are head and shoulders above everybody else. The only team that can be Celtic at the moment are Celtic.”

Asked if Kilmarnock will beat Dundee, Merson replied: “Nah, I’ve gone draw here. I’ve gone 2-2. Really, being honestly, honest, I haven’t got a clue so I just went 2-2.”

“I love your honesty!” the Sky presenter said, before turning to Merson and adding: “And don’t forget, you can do your research, can’t you!”

Watch it here...

In truth, it was a little embarrassing.

Sky also made a big error

And to make matters worse, Sky used a photo of Dundee United’s badge instead of Dundee’s.

Poor.
