When Crystal Palace beat Liverpool two weeks ago, they were celebrating their Premier League survival. That impressive win had put them on 38 points with six matches remaining. They were surely safe. However, three matches later and Palace are still on 38 points after losses to Burnley, Tottenham and this afternoon’s 5-0 loss to Manchester City.It means they’re now nervously looking over their shoulder and hoping that Hull and Swansea don’t pick up maximum points in their 3pm fixtures against Sunderland and Everton respectively. In truth, it was always going to be a difficult afternoon for Palace. An early David Silva goal certainly didn’t help matters and second-half strikes from Vincent Kompany, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi sealed a very comfortable win.Poor Christian Benteke upfront barely got a touch for Sam Allardyce’s side. However, the forward did produce a moment that Twitter absolutely loved. The ball was fired towards the former Liverpool striker and he nonchalantly chested the ball into the path of Wilfried Zaha. It was so casual, yet so brilliant.

Benteke's chest and Twitter reaction

And Twitter absolutely loved it, check out the reaction:

If Hull beat already relegated Sunderland this afternoon, it will set up a huge relegation clash against Palace next weekend. The Eagles will host the Tigers in a match that could be critical to the two side’s survival chances.

If Palace are still in danger come the final day of the season, they will have to travel to Old Trafford and get a result against Manchester United.

At least Benteke is good at chest passes.
