Brazilian striker Jo marked his return to Everton in their 2-1 defeat by League Two Bury in a pre-season friendly at Gigg Lane.

The 22-year-old spent five months on loan from Manchester City last term and after a week of discussions the former CSKA Moscow player will spend the next 12 months with the FA Cup finalists.

Louis Saha opened the scoring for Everton in the 23rd minute when he diverted Leighton Baines' cross past goalkeeper Wayne Brown. But Bury netted twice inside the space of five second-half minutes with Ryan Lowe (64) levelling as he glanced home Danny Carlton`s delivery before Efe Sodje rose to head home a Michael Jones corner.
