Burton manager Paul Peschisolido has blamed his side's fitness-focused training for their 4-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
The Football League newcomers were undone by a Nathan Tyson hat-trick after David McGoldrick gave the visitors the lead, rendering Robin Shroot`s late effort a mere consolation.
"We haven't worked on shape or defensive stability," he told BBC Radio Derby. "All we've done is work on our fitness as that is what pre-season is about."
He added: "Over the next couple of weeks we've got a lot of work to do on the pitch to make sure we're not breaking down by one simple ball over the top.
"We held our own for the majority of the game with regards to possession, but you see the gulf between the two divisions with one or two players.
"We probably won't come up against many better strikers, but at the same time we have to be prepared for it, and work on cutting out silly errors and simple goals that need to be stopped."Í
