Aldershot have signed defender Ben Herd on a two-year deal after he was released by Shrewsbury.

Herd is an attacking right-back who began his career as a trainee with local side Watford. He was released in the summer of 2005 without making a first-team appearance at Vicarage Road and signed for Shrewsbury in 2005.

He fell out of favour under Paul Simpson at the end of last season and was allowed to leave in May.
