Darlington are on the verge of coming out of administration according to the club's commercial director Christine Balford.

Speaking at a supporters` forum on Monday night, Balford confirmed that after five months of uncertainty, Football League officials have recommended that Darlington's league share be returned.

This means the Quakers are set to begin the season without a points deduction.

Balford said: "I am happy to say that the league are recommending we get our share back. As soon as we get that back, we are out of administration.

"That hasn't happened yet, but we are very, very close."
