West Ham defender Jordan Spence has joined Scunthorpe on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old will provide manager Nigel Adkins with some extra defensive options following the loss of David Mirfin to an ankle injury.

Adkins is also giving a trial to Plymouth midfielder Simon Walton. The 21-year-old former Leeds man is on the transfer list at Home Park after being sent off against Barnsley last season and is hoping to impress at Glanford Park.

Walton, who has already played for eight clubs, will spend a week training with the Iron.
