Burnley boss Owen Coyle is expecting Steven Caldwell to be back in training by the end of the week.
The Clarets skipper has missed the start to the season with a groin injury but Coyle is expecting his captain to be back in training ahead of Saturday's trip to Chelsea, even if playing a part at Stamford Bridge might be beyond him.
"Steven is responding better," said Coyle. "He is not quite ready to join us yet but I am hoping he joins in training at some point this week."
He added: "Steven has been outstanding for us and is a big part of what we are doing at this football club.
"He is a gem of a man and the sooner we get him back into the group the better."
