Carlisle manager Gregg Abbott hopes his side will draw a "big club" in the third round of the Carling Cup after they sent Bristol City crashing out 2-0 at Ashton Gate on Wednesday night.

With the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool joining the tournament for the next round, Abbott is hoping his players are rewarded with big-name opposition when the draw in conducted on Saturday.

"Bring on the draw and bring on a big club - Sunderland, Manchester United or just below them Liverpool - the lads deserve that after this win," he said.

"It was a big result and a big performance.

"We have been working on getting balls in early for our two strikers and it worked perfectly as they both scored and made a long round trip of 550 miles well worth it.

"We broke up Bristol's play and set out to keep them away from our goalkeeper. Our defenders were fantastic and Bristol, who are a good side, got in only one real shot."
