Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson has blasted the challenge which injured striker Clayton Donaldson against Bournemouth last weekend.

Donaldson lasted just 26 minutes of his return to the starting line-up before being crocked and scans have now shown that he will be out for at least six weeks with a fractured leg.

"I thought it was a reckless tackle at the time but the referee didn`t even award a free-kick," Thordarson told the club`s official website.

"The fourth official told me that it wasn`t a bad tackle but it obviously was because it has fractured my players` fibula.

"It takes quite a lot to do that. I dread to think what would have happened if it had been a bad tackle.

"It is a blow to lose Clayton and disappointing for him because he had worked hard to come back from an ankle injury."
