Hull boss Phil Brown has revealed record signing Jimmy Bullard is now so close to fitness it is "almost mouth-watering".

The £5million midfielder has not played since suffering a serious knee injury on his debut for club against West Ham in January. The 30-year-old required major surgery but set his sights on October for a potential return and is making good progress.

"He is so close it is almost mouth-watering, the prospect of being able to pick him," Brown told the club's website,

"But we have got to make sure the next week or two are spot on because, hopefully, when Jimmy is ready the cruciate will be behind him."
