Norwich have allowed winger Simon Whaley to join League Two side Rochdale on loan for one month.

Whaley - who made his name with Dale`s neighbours Bury - was signed by former manager Bryan Gunn from Preston during the summer but has been frozen out since Paul Lambert took charge at Carrow Road.

Whaley will go straight into the Dale squad to face Northampton on Saturday and will remain at Spotland until October 18.

Lambert told the club`s official website: "Simon needs games.

"He came to me and asked if he could go out on loan if he wasn't in our immediate plans and this move gives him the chance to do that."
