Caretaker Northampton manager Ian Sampson has revealed that striker Courtney Herbert did not break any ribs during Tuesday night's 3-1 win over Rotherham.

The 20-year-old scored on his full league debut against the Millers but was forced off just minutes later after injuring his ribs.

But Sampson said: "He's been for an X-ray and there is no break, he just has badly bruised ribs."

He added: "He's touch and go for Saturday at the minute but we'll do our best to get him out there.

"He's a strong boy and he doesn't need to bulk up at all. He's a brave lad who wants to score goals and he showed that with some of the challenges he put in.

"I put faith in him by giving him a chance and he repaid that faith on Tuesday night. Let's hope he continues to do so."
