After a fairly average debut season in English football, Pep Guardiola looks set to make a huge statement in the summer transfer market as he bids to improve his Manchester City side.
Bernardo Silva has been brought in from Monaco, as has Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica, but one area that is yet to be improved is in defence.
The manager's primary area of defensive improvement is on the flanks where the club were noticeably weaker than their rivals in 2016/17.

The likes of Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy are simply not good enough for a club of City's stature, leading to Guardiola's side being linked with a whole host of players across Europe.
One of those is Tottenham star, Kyle Walker, who has been rigorously touted with a £50m switch to the Etihad but the proposed deal appears to have stalled in recent weeks.
However, Guardiola may have found the ideal bargaining cheap in order to acquire one of his top targets with The Sun revealing that Spurs will be much more inclined to sell if they can get Kelechi Iheanacho in exchange.
The Nigerian striker is keen to leave the club this summer after falling behind Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order.
He scored 14 goals in all competitions last season and was the subject of a £20m bid from Leicester, one which was accepted by City.
Nevertheless, if they believe sending the 20-year-old to White Hart Lane will allow them to get Walker, Guardiola's side will sell to their Premier League rival.
On paper, the deal would represent excellent business for Mauricio Pochettino's men who are yet to make a signing this summer.
The north Londoners are known to be in the market for a new striker to act as a backup for Harry Kane and they could potentially land one of the game's brightest prospects along with a nice cash sum.
With Kieran Trippier already there to fill in for Walker, Spurs would be wise to pursue the deal if it is on the table.
