The NBA is in full-on offseason mode, with Las Vegas Summer League, free agency and the beloved Drew League all going down at the same time.

The Drew League is one of the staples of the NBA summer, with players in the league and amateurs getting together to put on some exciting hoops action. It's always fun to see pros play in the electric gym atmosphere where the league holds court in Los Angeles.

DeMar DeRozan is a Drew League regular, enjoying some summertime fun in his hometown of Los Angeles. What's usually a lighthearted game of basketball turned into a tense situation when DeRozan snapped on a referee during a loss this week.

A clip of DeRozan launching the basketball at the referee in question's head has gone viral, which has to be seen to be believed:

DeRozan was frustrated with the referee's calls throughout the game, and as the final buzzer sounded, he made sure to let him know his thoughts on how the contest was officiated. Luckily for the ref DeMar missed, which likely was on purpose just to send a message without actually hurting him.

The Toronto Raptors star walked off the court fuming but turned around to give the referee a piece of his mind on his way back. Nick Young, who is DeRozan's teammate in the Drew League, ran interference and guided DeMar away from what could have been an ugly situation.

When Swaggy P is the voice of reason something has gone terribly wrong, and DeMar losing his cool in an exhibition game isn't the best look for an NBA player. Emotions run high when competing, of course, but letting it turn into something personal or physical is never good.

The crowd in attendance against the wall where the ball hit was also in danger, but DeRozan seems to have thrown it just far away and high enough as to avoid actually hitting anyone. That's probably a good thing not only for those in attendance and the ref, but DeRozan as well.

There's also video floating around from those who decided to go through the game to find out why DeRozan was so upset at the officiating. You can take a look for yourself in the clip below:

Some tough calls went against DeMar, and it ending in a losing effort only makes it worse. Luckily this was just a blip on the radar and nothing serious happened, and instead we're left with an absolutely insane moment that was ultimately harmless.
