So far this summer, Arsenal fans can be relatively satisfied with the club's business in the transfer market.

Sead Kolasinac has joined on a free transfer while the Gunners paid a club record fee to bring Alexandre Lacazette to the Emirates Stadium just a few weeks ago.

On top of that, they have so far been able to keep hold of their two biggest stars, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, whose contracts expire in less than 12 months time.

Although they appear to have failed to make much progress over trying to extend either of their deals, it looks likely Ozil will almost certainly stay for at least one more season.

There have been far more question marks surrounding the future of Sanchez, though.

And those question marks have just increased a bit further with the Chile international's latest comments on his future.

The 28-year-old has been given an extended break following his exertions at the Confederations Cup and is yet to join up with the rest of the Arsenal squad on their current pre-season tour of Australia.

Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger will not be best pleased to learn Sanchez has told media in Chile he would like to leave the club this summer.

The former Barcelona forward has been linked to Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich recently and he has reiterated his desire to play in the Champions League.

"I want to play in the Champions League. The decision isn't down to me, I need to wait for Arsenal," he said, as per the Daily Mail.

"I've made my decision, now I wait for Arsenal's reply. The idea is to play and win the Champions League. I've dreamt about it since I was little.

"For now I am at Arsenal and I finish my contract in one more year."

It is very hard to see a way back for him now...

Of course, Arsenal could still force Sanchez to stay by rejecting any offers for him but that seems unlikely with the potential danger of a free transfer next year a very serious threat.

Wenger remains reluctant to sell his prized asset to one of the Gunners' Premier League rivals but if either of Chelsea or Man City launch the highest bids, will they have much of a choice?
