Nobody quite does Twitter banter like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. The ex-pros, who now work together as pundits for Sky Sports, never waste an opportunity to poke fun at one another.Take Neville’s response when Carragher was named in Liverpool’s squad for their trophy to Australia in May, for example.“Wow @Carra23 in the Liverpool squad,” Neville wrote on Twitter.“Gonna be awkward for you playing in that defence you’ve been slagging off all year!”Not bad. But Carragher’s reply was superb.“Can’t be as awkward as you speaking to Conte yesterday about management!,” the former Liverpool defender quipped.

Neville and Carragher's latest exchange

The duo were at it again on Sunday afternoon when a fan noticed that Carragher’s Twitter profile picture, a Powerpodz-style figurine, doesn’t really look much like him.

“Why have you got giggsy [Ryan Giggs] as your profile pic?” Carragher was asked.

The former centre-back then asked his Twitter followers to send him ideas for a new profile picture.

Neville had a great response

Seizing his opportunity, Neville let rip.

The Manchester United hero sent three unflattering photos of Carragher, including one of his own goal against the Red Devils in 1999, a match in which Carragher put through his own net twice.

Carragher replied

Carragher replied with a reminder of Neville’s miserable stint as Valencia’s manager.

He then followed it up with a hilarious photo of Neville and his brother, Phil, during their youth.

Neville's suggestion

Neville had a better suggestion, though.

Carragher made headlines in the week for his reaction on Twitter to Carles Puyol’s horror tackle on Phil Neville during the Star Sixes match between England and Spain.

While everyone else was wondering whether Puyol had just broken Neville’s leg, Carragher simply wrote: “Yeerrrssss!!!!! Love it puyol.”

Neville: 'It was a horrendous tackle'

Neville, unsurprisingly, saw the funny side of Puyol’s ludicrous tackle.

"It's the worst tackle I've ever seen on a football field. I hope UEFA, FIFA and the FA all have a look at this,” the former Man United and Everton defender joked, per the Telegraph.

"The thing that upset me more than anything was the referee said he got the ball! Honestly, it was a horrendous tackle.

"I've just had a word with Paul [Scholes], hopefully he can sort him out."
