AC Milan are not messing about. The Italian giants, fed up after spending the past six years in football’s wilderness, have enjoyed remarkable success in the transfer market this summer. They’ve completely overhauled their squad following a series of underwhelming seasons - in which they’ve failed to secure a top-three finish and have mostly played Europa League football - and should seriously challenge for the Serie A title next season.Milan boss Vincenzo Montella has purchased seven talented players aged 26 or under in recent weeks: Hakan Calhanoglu, Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Fabio Borini and Andrea Conti. While the recent signing of experienced centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, who will become Milan’s new captain following his shock transfer from Juventus, is clearly one of the best signings of the summer.Furthermore, the Rossoneri have also managed to retain the services of their hugely gifted young goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 18-year-old, Gianluigi Buffon’s successor at international level, put pen to paper on a new four-year contract last week.

Montella has already assembled a squad that now looks capable of challenging the likes of Juve, AS Roma and Napoli next season with his signings so far.

Milan could be about to seal two dream signings

However, the bookies will probably install Milan as favourites for the Scudetto if they wrap up the signings of Alvaro Morata and Renato Sanches later this week.

That’s right: Milan could be signing both players very soon, according to reports.

Milan to sign Morata for £61m?

La Gazzetta dello Sport - per the Daily Mail - understand the Italian outfit are on the verge of completing a £61 million move for Real Madrid’s Morata, who was strongly linked with Manchester United earlier this summer.

If the deal is finalised, the Spanish striker will earn a cool £166,000 a week with his new employers.

Sanches on his way to the San Siro?

Sanches, meanwhile, was one of Europe’s most in-demand young footballers last year.

But following a difficult debut season at Bayern Munich, the 19-year-old is expected to leave the Allianz Arena before the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Milan are keen to take Sanches off their hands and, according to Sky Sports, are offering Bayern a loan deal with a €40 million option to buy.

We can’t wait to see Milan in action next season. Roll on the new campaign.
