WWE never wastes an opportunity to utilise social media to their advantage, as it often helps advance storylines and gets fans more engaged to what could eventually happen on television. While it happens almost every single day with the current roster, WWE fans were left rather surprised over the past week as a UFC star decided to get involved with current SmackDown LIVE figure, Becky Lynch.

WWE also loves doing business with other organisations and fighters, as it helps with their ratings as we’ve seen in the past with Mike Tyson and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 31.

Most recently, though, Triple H extended an offer to both Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor to appear on Monday Night RAW and take advantage of the fact that they’d have live microphones in their hands.

However, it’s Cristiane Justino who’s been stealing the limelight, as Cyborg has continued to call out The Irish Lass Kicker with the two trading plenty of insults.

The former Strikeforce and Invicta FC Featherweight Champion will be in action later this month at UFC 214, where she battles Tonya Evinger for the featherweight crown, and Cyborg could then turn her focus to the squared circle – although, many believe it’s all talk and nothing will actually come from their exchange.

CYBORG VS BECKY?

However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed there could be more to this story, as WWE perhaps wouldn’t be jumping in for no reason.

The WWE article had claimed that Becky doesn’t officially have an opponent for SummerSlam just yet, but another former champion has thrown down the gauntlet for a potential dream contest - referring to Cyborg.

According to Meltzer, the WWE is involved in this because it could be a potential tease for something that could happen inside the Barclays Center; and you can’t rule out an appearance from Cyborg if the story continues to get plenty of attention.

He claimed: “The company is pushing some sort of a tease for Cris Cyborg with Becky Lynch at SummerSlam.

“It’s clear something worked out between the two of them which the company is involved with.”

Obviously, there’s probably no genuine bad blood between the pair, while WWE could end up agreeing on a deal much quicker if Cyborg is able to claim a UFC title later this month as her already massive stock will only increase.

Considering she’s probably a name the wrestling fans are discussing right now, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see something concrete come of this back and forth encounter on social media.
