With British fighter Billy Joe Saunders set to defend his WBO title against Willie Monroe Jr on Saturday, speculation has been increasing on who Saunders will face next.

Saunders, a slick southpaw, well known for his dismantling of fellow Brit fighter Chris Eubank Jr in July 2014, is keen to add more titles and is willing to fight all that stand in his way.

His promoter, fight game veteran Frank Warren, has pitched in with his own plans for his fighter and has explained that Saunders is ambitious.

In an interview wih BBC Sport, Warren said: "If Bill comes through, we are pushing hard for the winner.

"If Golovkin wins, I hope we can do that fight in December. If Canelo wins, it could be in the new year. Bill has to go out there and prove a point. There is a lot on the line."

The WBA, WBC, and IBF titles will all be up for grabs when Gennady Golovkin faces Saul Alvarez in September, and as a result, the division is currently very exciting.

Saunders has been outspoken in his desire to fight Gennady Golovkin and has made no bones about facing the fearsome, hard hitting Kazakh.

Golovkin can not only take shots, but can dish out serious punishment. The skilled Saunders, though, has not been fazed and his desire to fight Golovkin even led to the Brit making an impromptu appearance in June of this year.

Saunders is in excellent form. He is undefeated in 24 fights and his tricky southpaw style has proven very difficult to tackle.

He was due to face Avtandil Khurtsidze this month, but the fight was postponed as a result of the Georgian's arrest. He is fresh, eager for a challenge, and keen to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

The Monroe fight represents a great opportunity for Saunders, but the hard hitting American who caused Golovkin a few problems until he was stopped in the sixth round against the Kazakh fighter, will be no pushover.

The American only has two defeats on his CV and has won 23 professional bouts.

"I think it is going to be a very close fight but I already have the mental edge over him," said Saunders.

"He said he was done against Golovkin and that's not what a warrior would do. I'd rather get knocked out cold than quit.

As for Monroe, he said: "I gave a good account of myself against Golovkin but I will admit that I got caught up in the moment.

"Billy Joe has had a lot of luxuries throughout his career that I haven't had. All of his fights have been in his own backyard. He hasn't had to go into the lion's den to prove himself."
