News regarding how UFC 213 did on PPV is in.

UFC 213 took place on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. The prelims aired on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET and FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET. Five bouts including two title bouts took place on the main card that aired on pay-per-view event at 10 p.m. ET.

The event was headlined by an interim UFC Middleweight Championship bout between Yoel Romero, and Robert Whittaker served as the co-main event.

Rounding out the main card was Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem in a heavyweight bout, Daniel Omielanczuk vs. Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight bout and Jim Miller vs. Anthony Pettis in a lightweight bout.

This event was originally supposed to be headlined by a UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship bout between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko. However, that fight was pulled due to Nunes pulling out of the fight.

Within the pay-per-view industry, it’s believed that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight will do record numbers.

On the flip side, some believe that the event will not pull in those numbers. The trend for years has been, the big fights deliver on PPV while the smaller fights pull in smaller numbers.

Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting is reporting that UFC 213 is currently projected to do in the range of 125,000 to 150,000 buys. This could make this event the lowest UFC number for a pay-per-view event with the exception of some shows headlined by UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.

This event will be remembered by how everything wrong. A bit of a history lesson, officials hoped for the main event between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre, which would have been expected to do major numbers.

However, that bout fell through St-Pierre suffering an eye injury. The next main event that was announced was Cody Garbrandt vs. T.J. Dillashaw, but that fight was pulled due to Garbrandt back injury. This event was doomed just by injuries, to say the least.

The UFC will attempt to make it up to fight fans as they return to PPV later this month with a big fight, which is a rematch between Jon Jones and current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

This bout will be main event UFC 214. There will also be two other title fights on this card. Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia for the welterweight title and Cris Justino vs. Tonya Evinger for the vacant women’s featherweight title. The undercard is stacked as well.
