Though New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony has only said he'd waive his no-trade clause for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets, it hasn't stopped the Portland Trail Blazers from throwing their hat in the ring.

Portland guard C.J. McCollum got the rumors started with an Instagram picture of Melo in a Blazers jersey and things have progressed from there.

McCollum thinks Anthony would be a great fit in Portland and hasn't been shy about saying so publicly in recent days.

McCollum told The Oregonian recently that, with Melo on board, he believes the Blazers can compete with anyone in the Western Conference - even the defending champion Golden State Warriors:

"He can help us a lot; we can help him," McCollum said, when asked to relay his message to Anthony. "He wants to play in the playoffs and be competitive. He's a very talented player. I think if we get him - when we get him - I think (we're) top three in the West easy."

Saying "when we get him" is a bold move by McCollum, as there are still several obstacles that must be overcome for Melo to head to Portland, but you can't fault his confidence.

McCollum's backcourt mate, star point guard Damian Lillard, agreed, adding that having so many talented scorers would make the Blazers tough to beat:

"He's Carmelo Anthony," Lillard responded. "You add another guy that can go out there and score 50 ... over the last decade, he's been one of the best players in the league. Playing against him, you know he's a cerebral player. He's smart...

"I can only imagine what it would be like having him iso'ing on one side, and C.J. in a corner, and me on the opposite wing and Nurk (Jusuf Nurkic) ... I can only imagine how hard it would be to guard us when it's already hard to guard us.

"We can compete with anybody in the West, but I think when you get to those teams like Golden State, if we happen to run into them in a playoff situation now -- we getting in the paint, and if they want to help off someone like Melo ... good luck."

However, not everyone is as high on a Lillard-McCollum-Anthony threesome as the Blazers are.

Warriors star forward/center Draymond Green responded to the Blazers' talk on Instagram, asking them to "give it a break" with their talk of beating Golden State:

The rumors surrounding Anthony are just heating up and it will likely be a while before anything is worked out. McCollum and Lillard will probably continue their recruitment of Anthony, so it's safe to assume Green will probably be waiting to shut it down, too.
