The unthinkable transfer is edging closer, it seems.

When reports emerged this week that Neymar wanted to leave Barcelona, many football fans thought it was merely speculation.

However, with each passing day, it looks as though the Brazilian is getting closer to a sensational move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old has a €222 million release clause and the Ligue 1 club are willing to trigger that.

What’s more, Neymar has decided he wants to leave Barca for PSG and has already told his teammates at the Camp Nou that he will be playing at the Parc des Princes this season.

Various reports suggest that Neymar wants to leave Barca to step away from Lionel Messi’s shadow.

Having won virtually everything at the Catalan club and learned all he can from the Argentine superstar, Neymar wants to embark on his bid to win the Ballon d’Or.

Neymar's crazy money

But there may be an alternative motivation after the financial side of the deal has been revealed by Goal.

They’re claiming that Neymar has been offered a crazy €30 million-per-year at the Parc des Princes. To put that into context, that is around THREE times more than he currently earns at Barcelona.

However, 15% of the salary will go to his father, who has played a large role in the transfer.

But it’s not just his wages that will make Neymar considerably richer. The same report says he will earn a ridiculous up-front fee of €40 million when he completes his €222 million transfer.

Crazy money.

Despite all the rumours, new Barcelona boss has played down suggestions that Neymar is set to leave the club.

"This is a time of rumours and we understand that's how it is," he said. "But he's with us right now and we want absolutely for him to stay here.

"I've spoken to Neymar but we just talked about tactics and other stuff. He's a player we love and we want him. Not only football wise but also the things that he brings to the team in the locker room.

"So basically going back to that rumour. That's all it is."
