Kristaps Porzingis' future with the New York Knicks was up in the air earlier this offseason, but now Phil Jackson has been dismissed by the franchise, things appear to be settling down.

With Carmelo Anthony rumored to be out of the door by the start of the new season, the Latvian could be the new face of the franchise whereas just over a month ago, it looked like he could have been playing his basketball elsewhere next season.

To put Knicks fans mind at ease despite the recent changes, Porzingis has given some confirmation over his future in the NBA from next season and beyond.

According to the New York Post, the 21-year-old was at a basketball camp in Latvia last weekend which was attended by about 250 children. One youngster asked Porzingis in his native tongue why he wouldn’t abandon New York.

Porzingis responded by saying: “I feel that it is the best place to win. And if you win in New York, you are king. For the last two years, I have had so many positive emotions here that this is where I want to stay and that this is where I want to win."

It seems as though Porzingis is committed to staying in New York for the long haul no matter what happens, which is bound to make many Knicks fans happy, especially considering it wasn't long ago that several teams reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring the Latvian.

The Knicks have missed the playoffs for four seasons in a row, but at least with one of the most promising youngsters in the league committing his future to the franchise for years to come, there is a chance they can break this unwanted streak in what is a relatively open Eastern Conference beyond the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Those chances of a playoff berth could be increased if New York acquires Kyrie Irving from the Cavaliers, as it was revealed the Knicks was one of the destinations the 25-year-old would like to be traded to this offseason.
