Sears boost for Palace

Crystal Palace have been boosted by the news striker Freddie Sears' groin injury is not serious - and he could even figure against Preston this weekend.

The on-loan West Ham youngster limped out of last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest but he has responded well to treatment and Palace have not ruled out an immediate return at Deepdale.

"Freddie has trained well this week and will be put through his paces to see if he will be ready for Preston," said assistant boss Mick Jones. "We are confident he will be travelling with us to Deepdale but if not then he should be available for the QPR game next Tuesday."
