Charlton manager Phil Parkinson has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 41-year-old took over from Alan Pardew in November last year, initially as caretaker, and following Charlton's fine start to life in League One - they are currently second having lost just one game so far - he has impressed the hierarchy at The Valley, who have tied him to the club until the end of next season.

"It's good news, and I suppose it can be taken as a sign that the club is progressing, but above all else I'm concentrating on continuing our good start to the season," said Parkinson.

"I'm ambitious and driven to keep improving things at the club. We've done well so far, but we want to keep driving forward."
