It’s a case of so far so good for Manchester United in the transfer window.

Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku have arrived for more than £100 million but don’t think for a second that Jose Mourinho is finished there.

The Portuguese boss has even publicly admitted that he’s still looking for a midfielder and a winger before the start of the Premier League season.

“I’m happy with my squad but I would like to have two more players, I never hide that, one player a midfield player would give me more options to the balance and the team,” Mourinho said earlier this week.

“Another one an attacking player, especially that can play through the wings to give me more attacking options but I never speak about players that belong to other teams.”

That winger looks set to be Ivan Perisic with the Inter Milan star being linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout this summer.

The midfielder United will sign

But it’s been unclear which midfielder will be joining United this summer.

The Red Devils have been rumoured to be interested in Fabinho, Marco Verrati, Renato Sanches, Nemanja Matic, Blaise Matuidi and Eric Dier so far this summer, but don’t appear any closer to striking a deal with one of them.

Until now, that is.

The midfielder that the club have been most heavily linked with is Chelsea’s Matic. Recently, though, it looked as though they faced stiff competition from his signature from Juventus.

However, Mourinho now has a clear path to his former player. That’s because, according to the Independent, Juve have withdrawn their interest in Matic to focus to Paris Saint-Germain’s Matuidi.

After Tiemoue Bakayoko arrived at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte decided that Matic is now surplus to requirements. While United have always been keen and Matic is eager to reunite with Mourinho, the Blues’ preference was to sell abroad.

But Juve have now passed up the opportunity to spend £40 million on the Serbian and are now actively pursuing a deal for Matuidi.

Over to you then, Mourinho.
