You remember Freddy Adu, right?Back in 2004, he was hailed as the next big thing in football - aged just 14!The American had the world at his feet. He was offered a professional contract by DC United and even picked up a lucrative offer worth $1 million from Nike.Thirteen years later and Adu's career hasn't exactly gone to plan.At 28, he should be at his peak, playing for one of the best clubs in the world and yet it appears to be struggling to persuade any team to take a gamble on him. With 13 clubs already on his CV, the journeyman has now gone to Poland in the hope of securing another fresh start.Sandecja Nowy Sacz were promoted to the top tier of Polish football last term and confirmed they have taken Adu on trial with a statement posted on Facebook on Monday. They also posted of picture of the former wonderkid after his arrival in the country and it's rather safe to say he will have some work to do to get into shape ahead of the new season.

That, of course, depends on him earning a contract at Nowy Sacz, which already looks unlikely.

It would appear Adu, who has also previously played for Benfica, Monaco and Belenenses, faces an uphill battle to impress his manager.

After hearing the news of Adu's imminent arrival, Radoslaw Mroczkowski revealed he had no say on the decision to offer the forward a trial and does not want to sign him.

"I just heard someone picked him up from the airport," Mroczkowski said, as per the Daily Mail.

"This is not my idea, so let's face it, the man who wants to have Frank [sic] Adu on the team, I do not accept this, it was not consulted with me.

"I will not test it, as someone else wants, and they can do it. In my opinion, the club is so ridiculous. Instead of building a team in a sensible way, we are looking for old vacuum cleaners."

Almost definitely not what Adu probably wanted to hear from his new manager...

The fact Mroczkowski even called him Frank instead of Freddie isn't exactly a great sign either.
