The futures of Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving are the two major dilemmas left to settle ahead of the new NBA season. After a crazy start to the offseason things have settled down lately, but the futures of two of the NBA's biggest stars are anything but clear.Anthony has been unhappy in New York for some time and it finally appears he is ready to move on from the Knicks, while Irving shocked the basketball world by demanding a trade away from the Cleveland Cavaliers 12 months before LeBron James makes a decision about his future.Despite that, both player's are still with their respective teams. Anthony appears to have his sights set on a move to the Houston Rockets - to join James Harden and Chris Paul - but could also, reportedly, be interested in a move to join him close friend LeBron in Cleveland. Other teams are interested, but Melo's no-trade clause makes it difficult for them to even get close to a deal.As for Kyrie, well he marked out four teams as potential landing spots: Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs or the Knicks. Of course, the Cavs will have the final say on where their All-Star point guard ends up.So, it's pretty simple, right? Kyrie and Carmelo switch teams - with a few added pieces trading hands. Wrong. It appears the two franchises are nowhere near completing a deal. Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz said the two franchises are currently locked in a 'stare down.'

He tweeted: "Sources say #Knicks and #Cavs are in a stare down when it comes to potential Carmelo/Kyrie trade. Communication halted for now."

UNFINISHED

In what has been one of the most exhilarating offseasons for fans in recent years, supporters have been sat twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next huge trade to come to fruition.

Melo and Irving will both make a huge splash once their futures are decided. Irving's departure could put an end to any hopes the Cavaliers have of challenging the best of the Western Conference, while Anthony would be a huge addition to any team with aspirations of winning a ring in the near future.

The Cavs have fielded offers from a number of interested parties but it appears the most likely destinations for their current point guard are either Minnesota, Phoenix or Portland. Anthony has much more control over his future given his no-trade clause, but he could also end up staying in the Big Apple for another season.
