Heading into the 2017 NBA Draft, no one was surprised when the Philadelphia 76ers chose Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick. Even fewer were surprised when the Los Angeles Lakers selected Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick.

Though Fultz's Summer League season was cut short by injury, Ball showed flashes of brilliance before an injury forced a premature end to his summer as well.

However, the folks with the NBA 2K video game series have seen what they need to see from the star rookies and have released their NBA 2K18 ratings.

As you can see in the tweet below, both Fultz and Ball will enter the game with 80 overall ratings, which are pretty generous for rookie players:

To compare, last year's No. 1 overall pick - Ben Simmons - made his virtual debut with a 79 rating and No. 2 pick Brandon Ingram was a 78 overall in 2K17, so the game makers clearly like what they see in Ball and Fultz.

The ratings are bound to change over the course of the season as the game developers make tweaks, but it's a nice starting point for the top two picks in this year's draft.

Other notable players who have had their ratings revealed are Golden State Warriors stars Kevin Durant (96) and Steph Curry (94). Kyrie Irving (90), Dwight Howard (81) and Karl-Anthony Towns (90) have also had their ratings released, among other players.

In the virtual world, as well as in real life, Fultz will get to team up with star Philadelphia big man Joel Embiid, who will be rated an 86 in 2K18.

Fultz already has big plans for the 76ers this season, saying he hopes the trio of young stars (himself, Embiid and Simmons) can lead Philadelphia to the 2018 NBA playoffs:

"We’re going to be in the playoffs this year, and I think everybody is willing to put forth their best effort and listen to the coaches and listen to the bench. We've got to just do whatever it takes to get there," Fultz told CSNPhilly. "That’s practicing even harder, that’s doing extra work in the gym by ourselves, I mean, we’re going to do whatever it takes."

As long as the three rising stars can stay healthy, the Sixers definitely have a chance to have a special season.

Ball, on the other hand, is likely a year away from playoff contention, as the Lakers are eying a big haul in the 2018 free agency period.

However, that doesn't mean he won't give it his best shot this year, as he and Fultz compete with a slew of other potential star rookies for the NBA's Rookie of the Year award.
