Early betting odds for a top match at SummerSlam have been released.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Cleveland, OH at the Quicken Loans Arena, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated John Cena in a #1 contender match. Nakamura will now challenge Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

On Monday, betting odds came out for the match, which saw Cena be the favorite. However, on Tuesday, odds changed, and Nakamura was the winner. News of the winner of the match came out that afternoon thanks to Mike Johnson over at PWinsider.com.

Betting odds are out for the title match. As of this writing, Nakamura is slightly favored at -160 to Jinder's +120. Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that Nakamura will win the championship, but rather it could mean that he wins the match by count out or DQ. If that is the finish, then Mahal would retain the title. The odds on who will walk out as champion still most favor Mahal, even with Shinsuke favored to win the match itself.

Mahal is at +115 and Shinsuke +165 for being champion at the conclusion of Summerslam. Now for those who actually plan on betting on this match. A $100 bet on either would win the number after the plus signs so $115 on a Jinder win and $165 on a Nakamura win. This is because Mahal has better odds, so gamblers win less on him because he's more likely at this point to walk out champion than Nakamura.

Now for the unexpected thing that could happen at the event. The chances of Baron Corbin cashing in the Money in the Bank contract is possible. Currently, the odds on this happening are +295. The odds against a successful cash is -415, so a $415 bet on Baron not being champion after Summerslam would yield only $100 as this likely doesn't happen at all.

SummerSlam takes place on August 20th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured on the card. When the event comes closer, betting odds for all of the matches will be released. It’s expected that the Fatal 4-Way match between Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman for the Universal Title will headline this event.
