So it turns out Stephen Curry is a multi-talented superstar. Having returned to the summit of the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, he has tried his arm in the professional golf scene over the previous two days.
The two-time Most Valuable Player stunned golfing fans on social media as he shot a 74 first round score in his opening round at the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic.
Curry missed the cut yesterday having shot back-to-back 74 rounds, finishing five over par. However, professional golfers and the man himself will be pleasantly surprised at how he performed. People on Twitter certainly were.
Many people online had suggested Curry playing golf with professionals was akin to putting the likes of Rory McIlroy and Justin Speith on the hardwood against the two-time champion. However, he held his own and even bit back on Twitter against some of the criticism.
Ayesha was also quick to ‘silence the haters.’ After the first round, she tweeted: “Word of the day! A person should never be subjected to being just one thing! #noceilings live your dreams! Believe in YOURSELF, always. #74.”
Below you can see some of the best reaction from professional golfers about Curry’s performance in Hayward, Calfornia.
Curry admitted during the tournament that he was having his own competition in his hand, and that self-motivation will be key in ensuring the Warriors do not take their foot off the gas as they look to retain their crowd.
The Dubs are the overwhelming favourites, but can not afford to underestimate any of their opponents in what many are considering the strongest Western Conference of all-time.
With training camps starting throughout the United States in August, Curry’s attention will return to improving a season that was considered a ‘down year’ despite his 25.3 points per game while shooting 46.8% from the field.
