Charlton manager Phil Parkinson was a relieved man as his side put a nightmare week behind them with a 5-1 thrashing of MK Dons.
David Mooney, Nicky Bailey, Lloyd Sam, Sam Sodje and Deon Burton scored for the home side, who were forced to come from behind after Aaron Wilbraham had put the Dons ahead. It put a poor week - in which they were dumped out of the FA Cup by non-League Northwich Victoria and slumped against Southampton - to the backs of their minds and ended a four-game winless run.
"It was a tough, long week for us but you pick teams for games like this in mind," said Parkinson, whose side moved within four points of leaders Leeds.
"I told them at training this week, it's not about their egos as footballers, it is about doing the right things and being professional.
"It is a good feeling and a big boost for me and more importantly the players and fans."
