Jose Aldo has never been the same since he suffered a stunning 13-second knockout against Conor McGregor back at UFC 194 in 2015.Before that, the 30-year-old hadn’t tasted defeat since 2005 and his dominance in the division is probably why he’ll still go down as the greatest featherweight in history, as a 13-second loss probably won’t change that.

13 SECONDS

Still, it’s clear that he’s no longer the same fighter, as he might have bounced back with a win over Frankie Edgar to reclaim the featherweight crown, but passed it on immediately to Max Holloway at UFC 212 in a third-round TKO loss.

It’s no secret that Scarface has been chasing a rematch with the Notorious ever since he suffered that crushing defeat, but as the months pass by it looks highly unlikely that he’ll be able to secure that rematch, especially since the Irishman has so many other lucrative options.

There’s the Nate Diaz trilogy, while he’s all but confirmed that he’s interested in travelling to Russia and defending his lightweight championship against the dangerous Khabib Nurmagomedov.

There’s also the super fight he has coming up this month when he battles Floyd Mayweather Jr.

That’s obviously taken priority as McGregor is in for a ridiculous payday when he throws down with Money on August 26 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, while his rivals inside of the Octagon simply wait and see what unfolds before figuring out what the next move will be.

The Eagle wants him, Tony Ferguson wants him and even though he’ll never admit to it now, Aldo would jump at the chance of a rematch too in an attempt to avenge that shocking loss – even though Cub Swanson is looking like his next opponent.

PREDICTION

Fight Hype recently caught up with Aldo, who not only revealed that his knockout power could be too much for the 49-0 American, but he predicted that McGregor will never fight again in any discipline.

Speaking via a translator, he said: “With the money he will get from this fight, he will never fight again.

“No MMA, no boxing, no nothing.

“He has a good punch, I cannot say he’s the biggest puncher…MMA gloves are tiny…when connect, drop you.”

Aldo has felt that power before, so he knows exactly what Mayweather could be in for on fight night.

If his prediction is anything to go by, though, then it could be bad news for the UFC if he decides to call it a day and rides off into the sunset.

The organisation has some of the best fighters on the planet, but not all of them are as marketable as McGregor has proven to be.
