Arsenal beat Chelsea on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.

The game, played between the Premier League champions and FA Cup holders, is seen as the traditional curtain raiser for the domestic season.

After a 1-1 draw, the Gunners took the first silverware of the season, converting four spot kicks to Chelsea's one.

Alvaro Morata and Thibaut Courtois embarrassingly missed their attempts, while the new ABBA format gave Olivier Giroud the chance to confirm Arsenal's victory, which he took.

For both managers, it was a final chance to give their teams a run out before the season properly begins this week.

Arsene Wenger's side host Leicester City on Friday, while Antonio Conte's Blues are at home to Burnley a day later.

And Sunday suggested that the manager who should be happiest with his current squad is Wenger. His team showed strong character to come back and beat Chelsea after going 1-0 down.

They also had to deal with the disruption of an injury, when Per Mertesacker trooped off after clashing with Gary Cahill.

He was replaced by new signing Sead Kolasinac, who stepped up and impressed at the perfect time.

The defender was solid throughout the game and headed in Arsenal's equaliser in the 82nd minute, sparking his side's comeback.

After impressing on Sunday, he's revealed why it's been so easy to settle in at the Emirates following his free transfer from the Bundesliga.

"What made things easier when I arrived was that I had a lot of players here with whom I could speak to in German," Kolasinac said, as per the Mirror.

“There are a few players who have helped me with things like where to live, where to go out in the evening. The team have really helped me."

It's good to see that the friendly nature of fellow Arsenal stars has helped the new signing settle in.

After such a poor season last year, Wenger will be desperate to have a united dressing room this time around and it sounds like his team are ready to fight together.
