One of the biggest players that could've hit free agency this offseason was Paul George, however, at the start of July, his business was wrapped up nice and early.

At the start of last month, the small forward was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, a trade which many see as being very one sided.

Nevertheless, it gives George the opportunity to play alongside the league's current MVP in Russell Westbrook, and a better chance of winning an NBA Championship for the first time in his career since he entered the league in 2010.

With the addition of the four-time NBA All-Star, the Thunder are now one of the contenders in the Western Conference, whereas that wouldn't have been the situation if he had stayed with the Pacers in the Eastern Conference. He has increased his chances of making the NBA Finals this year by accepting this trade.

However, according to The Athletic's Tim Kawakami via the Washington Post's Posting Up podcast, another team could be in the hunt for the 27-year-old, and they could boost his chances of winning an NBA title even further.

Kawakami has said the Oklahoma City's Western Conference rivals, the Golden State Warriors, are interested in acquiring George when he becomes a free agent at the end of next season, alongside the most talked about landing spot for the small forward, the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also said he believes the Warriors will try and make a run at George next summer, adding that the team's owner Joe Lacob “is going to try and find a way.”

If you don't believe Golden State was a super team last summer with the addition of Kevin Durant to an already stacked squad of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, if George joins in 2018, there would be no denying that they're the best team in the league.

With the players already there in mind though, it would most probably mean they won't be offering him a max contract he could potentially get somewhere else. The big selling point would be moving to come and win titles, which could be enough to sway him, with the Warriors likely moving on a few of their lesser players in order to accommodate him.
