It’s arguable that no other sporting rivalry comes close to that of Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Put the two northern power houses of English cricket onto the same field and there’s sure to be fireworks.
The counties have a long and proud history of first class cricket and traditional matches between the pair were considered to be among the hardest fought in the first class game.

The ignominy of defeat was to be avoided at all costs!
The T20 Blast match on Friday night not only saw a continuation of this fierce rivalry on the sporting field, it also saw a contender for the catch of the season by Yorkshire's Jack Leaning.
As you can see in the video below, Lancashire batsman Arron Lilley hit the ball on the full aiming for the boundary in front of a sell-out 15,750 at Headingley.
Jack Leaning then produced a catch few others would have managed. Fielding near the cover boundary had initially mistakenly come in-field to make a difficult catch near on impossible.
What happened next was incredible the 23-year-old from Bristol left the field and arched his back to make the impossible reality.
The crowd at Headingley went wild as did the Sky Sports commentators:
“That is as good as you will see, anywhere in the World!
“That is a stunner!”
Leaning's father, Andy, was a former Goalkeeper for York City and is now a goalkeeping coach and it's clear some of that ability between the sticks clearly rubbed off on Jack.
That catch proved crucial too as Yorkshire eventually emerged victorious with a valuable 19-run win to boost their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
