Jon Jones but on a ridiculous performance against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 last month (Sat. July 29, 2017), however, he didn't impress everyone that was watching.

Jones once reigned as the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world in the UFC, before getting involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a pregnant woman's arm broken. He was subsequently stripped of his 205-pound title and suspended from the UFC indefinitely. He returned just months later to capture the interim light heavyweight title by defeating Ovince Saint Preux, setting up a title unifier between he and longtime rival turned undisputed light heavyweight champ in his absence, Daniel Cormier.

That bout was cancelled just two days out from the event, however, as Jones was pulled from the card after testing positive for a banned substance by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). When it was all said and done, it turns out Jones was the victim of a tainted supplement and was only handed a one year suspension for the mishap.

He returned last month in the main event of UFC 214 in attempt to recapture the title he never lost, and did exactly that. Jones landed a vicious head kick that led to some nasty ground-and-pound which forced a third round stoppage over Cormier, once again landing himself on the top of the UFC's 205-pound mountain.

Current No. 3-ranked light heavyweight Volkan Oezdemir was watching Jones' performance after a first round knockout of his own earlier in the night, and was not impressed with 'Bones'' performance (quotes via MMA Mania):

“That was Jon Jones, that was his style, he was doing his stuff, but I didn’t see any new weapons,” Oezdemir said on The MMA Hour.

“Of course, he probably didn’t get to display everything and yeah the fight was dominant, but DC had some good moments too. So you know, I wasn’t that impressed,” he added.

“The fight was great, of course, but I was waiting to see Jon Jones fight different,” Oezdemir explained. “D.C. is also one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever, so it was also a fight between two of the best guys, so that’s why I guess.”

“I think it’s very different power, D.C.’s stance is not made for striking,” Oezdemir said. “The way he stands, he’s not going to be able to generate a lot of power in his striking, so this would’ve been different.

"I have another style, I offer another style for Jon Jones, so when my punch lands, it’s going to be different,” he concluded.
