Crewe defender John Brayford is in line to face former club Burton after returning from a shoulder injury.

Brayford missed the weekend's 2-2 draw at Northampton but is set to return to face the club he began his career with.

The 21-year-old will return to the starting XI in place of Matthew Tootle, who made is Crewe debut at the weekend.

Caretaker manager Dario Gradi will be without midfielders Steven Schumacher and James Bailey. Schumacher is struggling with cramp in his calf, while Bailey has a groin problem.

However, both are expected to be fit in time for the trip to Chesterfield on December 2.

The only other injury of note is to striker Shaun Miller, who is still sidelined with a groin injury.

Burton manager Paul Peschisolido will be without Andrew Corbett for the trip.

Corbett is struggling with a hip injury he picked up playing for the reserves against West Brom a few weeks ago.

And the 27-year-old defender is still two or three weeks away from a comeback despite reports he was set for a return against Hereford at the weekend.

However, the Brewers may be able to welcome back Paul Boertien for the match.

The full-back has missed the last six games because of a knee injury but he returned to training last week. Boertien missed the thrilling 3-2 victory against Hereford at the weekend.

Albion twice came from behind and boss Peschisolido could reward his side's efforts by naming the same starting XI against Alexandra.
