On August 26, sports fans from across the world will gather for one of the most anticipated fights of recent times, as UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor faces Floyd Mayweather Jr., undefeated in a 19-year career in boxing, in Las Vegas.

The event marks a groundbreaking crossover between boxing and MMA, with McGregor needing to adapt from his traditional UFC style if he hopes to defeat Mayweather in a traditional 12-round matchup.

The meeting of two legends of their respective combat codes has sparked discussion over potential future crossovers involving headline faces from the world of boxing and the UFC.

And, Tony Bellew, former World Boxing Council cruiserweight Champion, has suggested that he could follow his American counterpart in facing a Mixed Martial Artist.

The 34-year old Liverpudlian, who hit headlines back in March for defeating David Haye in his first ever heavyweight division match, currently has no fixed future opponent and suggested he could be open to facing current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who defended his title with a victory over Dan Henderson last October.

''I can wrestle, I can grapple, I punch hard, I can kick and I've got some kickboxing experience," Bellew said speaking to Sky Sports.

"I'm a Michael Bisping fan, but if the money was right then the fan stuff goes out the window."

The only concern for Bellow would be dropping to the upper limit of 185lbs for the UFC middleweight category.

Bellew previously fought at the 200lb cruiserweight limit and is now thought to weigh in around the 210lb mark.

"I think I could get down to 185[lbs]. If the money is right, I [Tony Bellew] would happily enter a cage or a ring. Maybe let's do one of them each."

McGregor and Mayweather will face off under traditional boxing rules, but Bellew's flexibility over fighting in a ring or UFC cage provides an insight into a possible flexible, interdisciplinary style of future fighting.

Despite his willingness for a matchup with Bisping, Bellew has ruled out sticking to his current category to face the UFC light-heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

"You can forget about me getting in the cage with Jon Jones."

Bellew will travel to Nevada for the fight later this month, and will hopefully return inspired to engage in what could turn out to be yet another legendary fight.
