It has been a wild ride for Alberto Del Rio in his professional wrestling career the past few years.

Del Rio has been competing in professional wrestling since the year 2000 when he signed with AAA. In addition to doing work for various Japanese promotions, Del Rio worked for the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre promotion where he served as World Champion before landing a deal with WWE. He was sent to WWE's then-developmental territory of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) before making his main roster debut in 2010. From then on out, Del Rio had a tremendously successful singles career in WWE.

The Mexican star won the WWE Championship twice, the World Heavyweight Title twice, the United States Title twice, 2011's Mr. Money In The Bank, and the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble. Today, Del Rio is winding down in his career and is currently doing work for Global Force Wrestling (GFW) (formerly known as TNA or Impact Wrestling) in addition to working the independent circuit.

He is currently in a relationship with 24-year-old WWE Superstar Paige which has kept him in the headlines since their relationship became public. They recently had an incident occur at an airport which accused Del Rio of domestic abuse, thus prompting GFW to suspend their Mexican star and recently strip him of his World Title.

Del Rio took to Instagram recently to react to the news, claiming it was a joint decision between he and GFW to have him stripped of the World Championship:

"My company Impact and I have come to an agreement that it's best for both parties if I be stripped from the championships. I came up with the suggestion just to show that Impact doesn't have favorites and everyone gets treated the same.

"Apologies to fans and my brothers and sisters in the company, even though I came out all clear and there was no wrong doing, it was still a scandal. So thanks for your support and let's move forward more positively. One day I hope to be your champ again! #SiSiSi"
