Hereford came out on top in their local derby with Shrewsbury in a hard fought contest at Edgar Street that ended 2-1.
The hosts swept into the lead in the fourth minute when Ryan Valentine scored from the penalty spot after Kevin McIntyre brought down Keith Lowe.
Canadian-born Gavin McCallum then pounced in the 31st minute and shot low into the far corner of the net to put Hereford two up.
However, Shrewsbury rallied to reduce the deficit just before the break when Waide Fairhurst netted from close range in the goalmouth scramble.
Hereford continued to have the better of play in the second half when Darren Jones, Craig King and McCallum all went close.
But Shrewsbury put on a last minute onslaught when they forced the Bulls onto the back foot.
And only a fine clearance by midfielder Kenny Lunt stopped Shrewsbury snatching an equaliser.
