Smackdown Live is often considered to be the land of opportunity within the WWE and the examples of struggling superstars who have been given their opportunities on the show is almost endless.

Current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal is a perfect example of this as he had mainly resided on the mid card during his days on RAW but is now the top superstar on Smackdown.

A return to a former gimmick

Sometimes unfortunately, superstars are given their opportunity and fail to capitalise on the chance that has been put before them.

One such superstar who has arguably failed to take their chances is Lana.

The Ravishing Russian debuted on the show earlier this year and was instantly granted a Smackdown Live Women's Championship match.

Despite being unsuccessful, she was granted two more opportunities and still failed to capture the belt.

Lana's time as an in-ring competitor has been very unsuccessful and it looks like WWE may now be moving her back to one of her older gimmicks.

Lana has been working closely with Tamina over recent weeks and now looks like she may be transitioning to her manager.

The Ravishing Russian now looks like she is set to return to management with Tamina as her new client.

Only until her debut earlier this year, Lana had been manager for Rusev and was instrumental in the Bulgarian Brute's original rise to power ahead of WrestleMania XXXI.

She now appears set to use all of her management skill to build Tamina up to become the dominant force in the Smackdown women's division.

Looking very comfortable in her old role, Lana promised Tamina that she would use her cunning and manipulation skills to help her become Smackdown Women's Champion.

A future contender

While Lana is clearly preparing to build Tamina into a true powerhouse on Smackdown, champion Naomi has issues of her own to worry about.

Naomi will be taking on Natalya this Sunday at Summer Slam with the title on the line and she does of course have the lingering threat of Carmella.

The first ever Miss Money in the Bank continues to threaten a possible cash in and Summer Slam could be the perfect stage for her to do so.
