Cardiff have appointed Malaysian tycoon Dato Chan Thien Ghee to the club's board.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale believes the move will further the potential for the Bluebirds to make inroads into Asia and attract more investment.

Ridsdale said: "The fact TG has accepted this appointment demonstrates the confidence that exits that Cardiff City can, with the right level of additional investment whether directly or through the broader global commercial opportunites, become an established top-flight football club."

Chan said: "I am very proud to be joining the board of Cardiff City at this time. I believe that together with the existing board I can provide Cardiff City with the additional resources it requires to achieve the ambition of attaining Premier League football."
