Matt Hardy didn't seem too pleased with being on the pre-show for last night's (Sun. August 20, 2017) SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) in Brooklyn.

The Hardys made their WWE return earlier this year at WrestleMania 33 where they defeated the teams of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and Sheamus and Cesaro in a Fatal Four-Way Ladder Match for the RAW Tag Team Championships. After a thunderous Swanton Bomb from the top of the ladder by Jeff Hardy, Matt was able to climb the ladder and retrieve the titles, landing the brothers on the top of WWE's tag team mountain once again.

Matt and Jeff then began what started off as a friendly rivalry with the team of Sheamus and Cesaro, however, after defeating them at the Payback PPV, Sheamus and Cesaro attacked them post-match and turned heel.

The Hardys then lost their titles in a Steel Cage match to Sheamus and Cesaro, ending their reign since WrestleMania. They rematched for the RAW Tag Team Titles at the Great Balls Of Fire PPV in a 30 minute Tag Team Ironman Match, which Sheamus and Cesaro barely squeaked out to retain.

With their second consecutive loss in title competition, The Hardys essentially lost their place in the title picture and seemed to move on to a feud against recent NXT call-ups The Revival. After weeks of back-and-forth between the two teams it seemed as though they would finally meet at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, Scott Dawson suffered a bicep injury that forced him out of competition and the match was called off.

Instead, a match between the team of The Hardys and Jason Jordan against The Miz and his Miztourage (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) was made in its place. That match took place on the SummerSlam pre-show last night, something that fans didn't take too kindly too.

Fans argued that due to their veteranship and talent inside the squared circle, Superstars the magnitude of Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and The Miz should not be subjected to competing on the pre-show. Matt seemed to agree with fans' complaints, taking to Twitter to take a subtle jab at WWE:
