FC Barcelona fans are desperate for their club to announce a world-class signing before the transfer window closes after losing Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.Supporters are concerned that their current side lacks the quality required to seriously challenge Real Madrid for the Spanish league title, as well as Europe’s other top clubs in the Champions League.Barça were outclassed by Real Madrid during the Spanish Super Cup - losing 5-1 on aggregate - and it promises to be a tough debut season for new manager Ernesto Valverde unless big signings are made before September 1.The Catalan giants have been strongly linked with Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele and Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. However, they are struggling to convince the three aforementioned clubs to sell, with transfer fees in football now seemingly out of control following Neymar’s £200 million move to the Parc des Princes.

Barcelona 'announced' Angel Di Maria

Barça have also been linked with former Madrid star Angel Di Maria - and supporters were left stunned in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the club ‘announced’ the signing of the Argentina international on social media.

Barcelona had been hacked

However, it soon transpired that Barça hadn’t signed the PSG winger. Rather, their social media accounts had been hacked.

A group named ‘OurMine’ claimed responsibility for the hack two minutes later, although the Di Maria tweet had already gone viral by then.

Barcelona confirm they were hacked

Barcelona eventually regained control of their Twitter account and issued the following message to their fans: “Our accounts have been hacked tonight. We’re working to solve the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.”

How embarrassing!
