Over the past few weeks, the name Neymar just simply has not escaped the media limelight.

The Brazilian superstar completed the most sensational transfer in football history during the summer transfer window, making the move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for a ridiculous £197m fee.

The Blaugrana were desperate to keep the enigmatic attacker, but he was keen to escape Lionel Messi's shadow in Catalonia and really challenge for the Ballon d'Or.

So far, he's done pretty well, scoring three goals and recording four assists in just two Ligue 1 games, however, his positivity in the French capital will certainly be sapped a bit after Tuesday's news.

Barca released an official statement saying that they intend to sue the Brazilian for breach of contract.

It appears to be yet another childish attempt to sour Neymar's reputation from the Blaugrana and shortly after, the former Santos man was supported by his new club.

PSG released an official statement just after 9 pm reading: "Paris Saint-Germain was surprised to learn of the press release issued today by FC Barcelona announcing the introduction of legal proceedings in Spain against its former player Neymar Jr. and stating that Default of payment by Neymar Jr. of the sums so demanded by his former club, the Paris Saint-Germain should assume jointly the burden of it.

"The Club recalls that, like Neymar Jr., it strictly respected all applicable laws and rules and can only regret, once again, the attitude of FC Barcelona."

The French giants are certainly not happy and the last little sentence is a view certainly shared by many in this transfer window.

The Blaugrana have not acted in the most dignified manner throughout, complaining about PSG's pursuit of Neymar, despite the fact they operate in the same way whenever they look to pry a star away from another team.

In a way, Ernesto Valverde's side have got what was coming to them and finding a replacement for Neymar has proven to be very difficult.

Barcelona v Real Betis - La Liga

Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Jean Michael Seri all appear to be staying with their respective teams as clubs become wary of negotiating with the Catalan giants.
