Crewe pair in contention

Midfielders James Bailey and Steven Schumacher could come into the equation for Crewe when Lincoln visit Gresty Road.

The pair have been sidelined with calf and groin injuries but may now be fit enough to be considered for a place on the bench.

"They are making good progress," said caretaker boss Dario Gradi. "With the injuries they have we have to be cautious because if you try and rush it they could break down again.

"We know what the problem is with Schumacher but we need to try and work out the cause."

Shaun Miller has also made good progress in his recovery from a groin injury but this game could come too soon for the forward.

Lincoln will be without Jamie Clarke.

The striker limped off only 12 minutes into the midweek defeat by Port Vale and will not be fit. Chris Fagan replaced Clarke on Tuesday night and he is likely to deputise at Gresty Road.

On-loan midfielders Anthony Pulis and Sergio Torres are still struggling with ankle injuries while the same problem means young forward Lenell John-Lewis remains a doubt.

Striker Paul Connor is still building up his fitness following three months out with a knee problem.

Following the 2-1 home reverse to Port Vale, boss Chris Sutton admitted his side are involved in a relegation fight after seven games without a league win has plunged them to third from bottom.
