Earlier this week, the Cleveland Cavaliers confirmed that they had traded Kyrie Irving away to the Boston Celtics, ending one of the biggest trade sagas of the NBA offseason.

Irving was traded to the Celtics by the Cavaliers in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the rights to the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick. Many believe Cleveland has come out on top in this trade because of the assets they've received in return for the 25-year-old.

Their newly acquired assets have certainly given the team a bit of breathing room if they want to bring anyone else, and according to Marc Berman of The New York Post, they very well could bring another big name player in that was once on their radar.

According to Berman, Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks could take another look at the Cavaliers following their big trade with Boston this week.

Cleveland can now shop their own 2018 first-rounder after acquiring the Nets first rounder through the Irving trade. The Knicks front office is reportedly high on Crowder and he could become the centerpiece of a potential offer for Melo, but there is a roadblock that is stopping that from happening for the time being.

Due to being traded earlier this week, the 27-year-old can not be traded for 60 days, which is October 22, so it could very well be a long shot for this trade to happen, as it was only last week that the Houston Rockets re-started trade talks for Anthony.

As of right now, the Rockets are the only team which Anthony will waive the no-trade clause part of his contract for, so they still look like the favourites to acquire him if he leaves New York this offseason.

However, if the Knicks are as high on Crowder as reports state, Anthony could still go to the Cavaliers, as New York would wait until the 60 days are up to trade him, but that would also mean waiting until almost a week into the new season.
