Isaiah Thomas' time as a Boston Celtic ended when he was part of arguably the biggest trade the NBA will see this offseason when his former team acquired Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers.Thomas, along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the rights to the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick were traded to the Cavaliers in exchange for Irving earlier this week, a trade which many people believe Cleveland won. However, a certain report could signify that we shouldn't be claiming the Cavaliers to be the winners of this trade just yet, as there is a significant reason why the Celtics were so willing to allow the best player on their roster to leave the team.According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, the Celtics reportedly had "significant concerns" in regards to Thomas' hip injury, which he picked up during last season's playoffs, and that factored into their willingness to trade him away earlier this week for Irving.

Prior to being traded, the Celtics were unable to provide an accurate timetable for when Isaiah would return to the court, so that's something which the Cavaliers will be looking to address as soon as possible so they know what his health situation is. However, it's worth noting that the team's front office doesn't see this as a short term concern.

The biggest question that remains is when is Thomas going to be ready to play for the Cavaliers for the first time. At the moment, some reports have said Thomas will be ready for the start of camp, while others have said he could miss the beginning of the new NBA season.

Cleveland will be keeping their fingers crossed that he comes back sooner rather than later. Otherwise, they might not see a return on their part of the Irving trade until later than expected, and this could set them back in the race for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference against the Celtics.
